It's Weigh In Day!! Yay!
Every week we have a Weigh In Day to track our progress. You can check your weight, measurements, body fat or take a photo of yourself to track your progress. Send us an email at GolladayFit@gmail.com to let us know how you are doing!
It's true, some weeks I dread stepping on the scale, but this week wasn't one of those weeks! I did so good on my eating and working out last week. It definitely paid off! I lost another pound and got down to the lowest weight I've gotten so far 139. My first goal was 145, and now I'm trying for 135. So I'm getting closer! Pretty good when you think I was 196 the day I delivered our baby last August 2011! I must be doing something right! :)

What Beachbody Coaching is All About
Post by Shannon
This post is for those of you who might be wondering what we are doing with all this Beachbody stuff.
First, of all Patrick and I are just regular people who like Beachbody workouts and products. We're not health and fitness experts.
Patrick and I started by doing Beachbody workouts and loving them. We thought the workouts were fun, and liked that they actually worked. :)
Last December 2011, we were introduced to the Beachbody Coaching program. I thought it looked awesome to be able to help others get healthy and fit, and thought it would motivate me too. So I signed up. Patrick was a little skeptical at first. He didn't know what I was doing. When I started get customers and making money, he was happy. :)
So Patrick signed up a couple weeks after me. We've been doing it together now for about 4 1/2 months, and we can honestly say that we love it!
We love it because we are able to help people from all over the world get healthy and fit. All we do is motivate them and help them through their programs. This has helped us get healthy and fit too. We love it!
Another bonus is getting paid to do this. So far between the two of us, we have 202 customers. We've made $3,673.37, we have 41 coaches on our team and we've personally sponsored 13. Also, 95% of our customers are people we didn't know before we started doing this. :)
We had no idea where this would lead us! At first, we thought it would be great to get 25% off their products, and it would be fun! It has turned out even better than we thought! I've been able to stay home with our girls more instead of leaving the house to go to work. It has been a perfect fit for us, especially me. :)
I love it because I don't have to bug people about it. I post things online, and if people want to talk more about it, I talk to them, but I don't need to bug my family and friends. :)
I also love that Beachbody gives you free customers when you reach different levels. That has helped our business a lot!
This is a great opportunity for people who:
-Love Beachbody workouts or products
-Want to motivate and cheer people on
-Like health and fitness
-Want to make some extra money on the side
It has also helped that I have a bachelor's degree in public relations and over 7 years of experience in marketing. :) I've been able to organize trainings and mentor the coaches on our team to help them succeed by using things I've learned.
So, if you are interested in this opportunity, let us know! There are lots of ways to do it, and I'd be happy to talk to you more about it. Email us at GolladayFit@gmail.com or send me a message on Facebook. to learn more!

WEEKEND CHALLENGE: Track your water intake!
It's time for the WEEKEND CHALLENGE!! Each weekend we post a challenge to help you be more healthy and fit! This weekend's challenge is to track your water intake!
Most people don't drink enough water each day. Water is SO important to help you flush out toxins in your body and help your body work properly.
This weekend track how much water you drink each day!
How much water do you need?
(Text taken from Redline Endurance's site)
Water intake is dependant upon your environment and activity level. For example, if you live in a relatively hot or humid environment, your intake is going to be slightly different due to perspiration. You will often times drink more water than someone that doesn’t live in that type of environment. In order to ensure hydration throughout the day, the first thing you should in the morning when you wake up before you have your coffee or tea are TWO 8 ounce glasses of water. Next, you want to drink about 4 8-ounce glasses of water per 1000 Calories eaten. For example, if you eat 2000 Calories, then you would need 8 glasses of water plus any fluid replacement. Fluid replacement is essential after exercise. You will need to drink approximately 2 to 4 8-ounce glasses of water per 1 hour of exercise.

Good luck everyone!!

Product Review: TurboFire
Post by Shannon
Every Thursday we do a review of a Beachbody product. This week is TurboFire! Click on the link or picture to see a video of the workout.
It is a fun, upbeat workout by Chalene Johnson! Chalene is so awesome and motivating! I love how she pushes you to do even more. I always tired and sweating at the end of her workouts! That's good, right? That means it worked! :)
The regular program is 12 weeks, but if you do the advanced workouts too, it is 20 weeks. I just started week 13 this week, which is the first week of the advanced workouts. Wow! They are intense! I love them, but they are intense!
TurboFire is challenging and fun at the same time. If you like kick boxing, dance or aerobics, this is a good one for you!
Here are a few facts:
- 14 workouts on 10 DVDs that range from 10 to 55 minutes
- You get the 6 Advanced workouts if you buy the Complete System. I recommend getting this instead of buying the advanced workouts separately if you want to take it to the next level!
- It comes with a Lower Body Band, an awesome nutrition guide and a Stretch band
- There is a 90-Day Money Back Guarantee
- Everything you need is included in the kit so you don't need to buy extra equipment
- There are "new to class" workouts to help you learn the steps (these are VERY helpful!)
- The workouts help you burn fat and get leaner

I officially started TurboFire on January 2. I did it for four weeks, and then started over again on January 30. It took me a few weeks to learn the choreography. That's why I started over. I'm so glad I did that because I was able to put more energy into it after learning the moves.
Overall, this is a fun, upbeat workout! I recommend it!
TurboFire is also available in a Challenge Pack! This is a great deal (workout PLUS Shakeology!) Click on the link to see all of the Challenge Pack Options: Beachbody Challenge Packs

It's Recipe Wednesday! I love sharing these recipes! It's so fun!
This one was taken from Beachbody's Meal Planner (Offered with the Team Beachbody Club Membership).
I love their meal planner. It lays out all your meals for the week, gives you a grocery list, and keeps you in your calorie range. It's awesome!
Strawberry-Ricotta Breakfast Wrap

2 low carb whole wheat tortilla, 6"

Arrange the sliced strawberries equally down the center of each tortilla
Spoon ricotta over the strawberries
Roll tortillas up, place seam-side down on a microwave safe plate, and cover loosely with plastic wrap

A Day in the Life: Life is Great!
Post by Shannon
Life is going great since I posted last week about putting our lives on a diet!
I've been able to spend a lot more time with these two little girls, and I feel so much more balanced! It is a great feeling!!
We have been going to bed every night between 10-11 and waking up between 6-7. Our girls have been sleeping better and better each night, which has helped a lot too!
Patrick and I have been drinking Shakeology first thing in the morning, then reading scriptures and a motivational book (I'm reading PUSH, which I love!), and then we do our workouts. Our goal is to do all of this by 8 a.m. So far we've been finishing before 8:30 at the latest.
I can't even tell you how nice it is to have more structure and balance in our lives!! It's sooo great!!
Before this, we were going to bed between 12:30-1:30 a.m., waking up around 7- 7:30, rushing around all day, but not getting much done. Trying to get our workouts in whenever we could find the time. Patrick usually did his workouts after 10:30 p.m. I tried to do mine with the girls around most days, but my 30 min. workout turned into an hour an a half workout most of the time, because it is WAY too hard to workout with two VERY active kids 2 1/2 and under!!
Anyway, life is good, really good actually! I feel so much more put together, and much less stressed! Our lives really needed this!
One week down, MANY more to go!! :)

Weigh In Day Monday!
It's Weigh In Day! Every Monday is Weigh In Day for the GolladayFit Team! You can take your measurements, weight, body fat, photos, etc. The most important thing is the keep track of your progress to see how you are doing!
I like the quote I posted above. It's true, you only fail when you give up! The most important thing is to keep trying.
This is a lifestyle change, not a diet or a quick fix. This is a lasting change that will help you be healthy and fit forever!
Don't worry, if you ate a huge bowl of ice cream yesterday or a burger and fries on Saturday. Just start again today. That's the best part. Each day is a NEW day that you can start over and try again!

WEEKEND CHALLENGE- Get Rid of the Excuses
It's the weekend! Are you ready for a challenge? Every weekend we have a new WEEKEND CHALLENGE!
This weekend we are going to get rid of the excuses!
Some time this weekend, write a list of excuses. These are reasons why you think you can't workout or eat healthy. Think about all the reasons why, and then write them down.
Here are a few of the common ones:
- Not enough time
- Not enough money
- Too tired
- Have a full-time job
- Have kids
- Have pets
- Going to school full time
- Not a morning person
- Never done it so why should I start now?
- Not motivated
Ok. Once you have them written down, look at the list for a minute or so. Then RIP UP THE LIST or you can burn it if you want.
Find a way to destroy the list!
Once the list is destroyed, make a new list of reasons why you want to be healthy and fit. Here are a few good ones.
- To have energy
- To feel good about how you look
- To fit into your clothes better or buy smaller ones
- To be healthy
- To be an example to your children
- To have energy to play with your children
- To look good for your spouse
- To feel confident
- To be able to walk up the stairs without getting winded
I'm sure you can think of more, but this is a good start. Then post this list where you can see it, and look at it everyday. These reasons will help you stay committed to your goals and reach them!
Get rid of your excuses! Get them COMPLETELY out of your life, and hold onto these positive reasons why you want to be healthy and fit!
Enjoy your weekend!

A Day in the Life- My Life is on a Diet
Post by Shannon
Ok. Just so you know I'm going to get a little bit personal in this post...
To be honest, life has not been easy for me for the past year and a half. I won't go into too much detail, but my life has been out of balance. Way out of balance actually.
The picture of me above is when I was about 8 months pregnant. I had a difficult pregnancy with our last baby. I had INTENSE headaches every day. They got so bad sometimes I couldn't do anything except lay down. It was rough because I was working for three companies (about 30-40 hours a week) up until the day I had our baby. I am a public relations / marketing professional, and I need to be able to think to do my job. This is hard when you have intense headaches, and you can't take very many medications when you're pregnant.
Anyway, that was one struggle I faced for 9 months...
Since our baby was born, we've faced other struggles with Patrick's job, trying to get into MBA school, getting our baby to stop crying ALL day...
Like I said I won't go into too much detail.
So I've been on this quest to lose weight and get in shape. This journey has helped me handle my stress to be able to cope with these problems we've been facing and stay positive.
So I've lost a lot of weight, and I feel great! The problem is, my life still hasn't been in balance.
This past weekend I went to a meeting for Beachbody Coaches. The presenter said how she was so happy because her life was in balance, and her relationships were the best they've ever been.
I thought about that a lot this past weekend. I've had my life in balance most of my life until the past year and a half. I was always a go to bed early, wake up early, read motivational books, be involved in my community / church, do three jobs at a time, train for 1/2 marathons and marathons, always on the go type of person. I seemed to have it all figured out until the past year and a half.
On Monday I listened to the National Beachbody Coach call, and they talked about reading a motivational book each morning when you wake up to help you be a better person.
I've always read motivational books throughout my life, but not regularly lately. After this call, I realized what I need to do.
Until this morning when I was reading my book, I didn't know what to call it. Now I do, I'm putting my life on a diet!
I talked to Patrick last night and we decided to go to bed by 10 and wake up at 6. Our plan is to first, get our baby to sleep through the night, then get our lives in balance by waking up each morning, drinking our Shakeology while reading our scriptures and a motivational book for 30 min., then workout for 40-60 min. each morning.
We started today, and we were successful!! We went to bed by 10:15 last night. Our baby only woke up once (AWESOME!!), and we woke up at 6:30. We read for 30 min. while drinking our Shakeology, and then I did a Turbo Fire workout, and he did a P90X2 workout all before 8:00 a.m.! Yay!!
I started reading this book, PUSH by Chalene Jonson, over a month ago, but didn't get very far. I started over today, and I'm so excited to read it and finish it! I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who'd like to get their life in balance!
In the beginning it talks about putting your life on a diet. I love that! My life definitely needs to go on a diet! I agree with her when she says that you can't just do something quick to fix your life, it has to be a lasting change. That's what I'm going to do.
The thing is that happiness comes when your life is in balance. When it is centered around the things in your life that matter most whether it's your faith, your family, etc. That's when you are truly happy.
Getting married, becoming a millionaire, losing weight, having kids, etc. make your life better, but they don't MAKE you happy. Like I said, happiness comes when your life is in balance and centered around the things that matter most to you.

WEEKEND CHALLENGE- Turn OFF the noise!
Patrick relaxing outside
It's the weekend! Ready for a challenge?
Each weekend we post a WEEKEND CHALLENGE to help you be healthier and fit!
This weekend's challenge is to turn off the noise around you and take time to relax! Most of our lives are SO busy these days! We are rushing to and fro without a chance to think! - Take a nap
- Read a book
- Have a picnic with your family and talk to each other
- Go on a hike
- Get a massage
- Go swimming
- Go to the park
- Listen to some calm music
- Paint something
- Sit by a river
- Go on a walk
- Write a poem
- Take a bath
Enjoy your time relaxing this weekend! Let us know how it goes!

I've shared this recipe before, but I love it so much, I thought I'd share it again with another option for the sauce! It was taken from the Sparkpeople Cookbook (only $17.22 on Amazon right now for the hardcover!)
Slow-Cooker Lasagna
For Sauce:
1 pound ground beef, 96% lean
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
2 tsp dried thyme
One 24-ounce jar low-sodium marinara sauce
One 3/4 pound eggplant, unpeeled, diced (2 cups)
For lasagna:
15 ounces part-skim ricotta cheese
1 cup shredded Italian five-cheese blend
1/4 cup egg substitute (or 1 egg white)
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
6 no-boil lasagna noodles
1. (Skip this step if you are using sauce recipe below.)
In a skillet over moderate heat, brown the ground beef and drain any excess fat. Stir in red pepper flakes, thyme, tomato sauce, eggplant, and 1 1/4 cup water.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta, shredded cheese blend, egg substitute, and parsley.
3. Coat the inside of the slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Place enough meat sauce in the slow cooker to cover the bottom. Top with 2 or 3 lasagna noodles (break them up as needed) to cover the meat sauce. Repeat layer.
4. Top the second layer with all of the cheese mixture and finish with a top layer of the remaining meat sauce.
5. Cover and set the slow cooker on low. Cook for 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
**Tip- I make my sauce ahead of time with the recipe below in bulk and put it in the freezer. Then, when I'm ready I just defrost it and put it together. Takes me a max of 10 minutes to make this and put it in the crock pot!
Nutrition info. for Sparkpeople recipe:
per serving: 271 calories, 10.2 g total fat, 56.6 mg cholesterol, 283.8 mg sodium 18 g total carbs, 1.6 g dietary fiber, 24.8 g protein
OR
Another option for the sauce!
**We love this sauce! It makes A LOT! You can freeze it and use it for lots of different meals! It makes life easier to have the sauce all ready, and it's soo good!
Original recipe from the Fabulous Freezer Meals cookbook. (Only $12.21 on Amazon right now!) I modified the recipe a little.
Yield 13 C. Lasts 4 months in the freezer
In a large stock pot mix:
2 onions, diced
(I use Shelf Reliance freeze dried onions. They are awesome because you don't have to chop onions!!)
2 t garlic, minced
1 C crumbled bacon (Use turkey or chicken bacon)
2 lbs browned Italian sausage
(you could leave this out and buy double meat below to make it healthier, but if you decide to use it, buy Jimmy Dean brand in a tube. It's less expensive and you don't have to deal w/ a casing)
2 lbs. browned ground turkey or 96% LEAN ground beef (Use 4 lbs. if you leave the sausage out)
Drain the meat mixture and then add:
1 (106 oz.) can tomato sauce from Costco or 4 jars (28 oz) commercial spaghetti sauce
1 (106 oz) can of diced tomatoes or 2 (28) oz cans of Italian diced tomatoes
4 (2.4 oz) cans sliced black olives (optional)
3 T Italian Seasoning (or use oregano, garlic salt)
2 T dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
** You can use this sauce for lasagnas, manicotti, ravioli, and can be frozen for spaghetti or pizzas. When defrosting it is OK and quite normal to pour off extra liquid.
Enjoy!

A Day in the Life- Little changes make BIG results!
Post by Shannon
After I had our second baby in August 2011, I was overwhelmed with everything I needed to do to. It was an adjustment getting used to taking care of two little girls 2 and under, let alone take care of myself!
The thing that helped me the most was making small changes each day. That seemed easier than trying to do everything all at once!
I started LIMITING MY TREATS my treats. This was hard because I craved sweets, white bread and pizza so much when I was pregnant! So I started by only having ONE treat a day instead of several! Then I went to five days, four, three, etc. It was a gradual process.
Next, I started EATING 5 TIMES A DAY. This was hard at first, but it became easier as I continued to do it. My body felt so much better eating this way, and so it made me want to keep going.
Then, I ADDED EXERCISE. I couldn't do this until at least six weeks after our baby was born because I had a c-section. I did some light walking before the six week mark, but I wanted to make sure I got the OK from my doctor before I started exercising.
Exercising was SO hard at fist! I was so unmotivated because I had so far to go! I felt so out of shape and discouraged, but I kept telling myself it wouldn't be this hard for very long! I kept going! I kept cheering myself on each day.
I did Beachbody's Insanity workout. I did this one after our first little girl was born, and I LOVED it! The workouts weren't too long, and it was easy to follow along. I loved the meal plan too!
So after our second daughter, I was ready to do it again. I ended up doing the first month twice because I was so out of shape! This helped me to gear up into the second month. :)
I STARTED USING SHAKEOLOGY when I started my second month of the Insanity workout. That was AWESOME too! I lost 7 pounds in December alone! That is the hardest month to lose weight. People usually gain! I didn't even workout everyday, and we went to visit family for a week too! It is awesome! I love it! Patrick and I have been using it everyday since.
Anyway, long story short, I have been on this weight loss journey since last Aug. 2011, and I'm feeling great! I am doing Turbo Fire now, and I love that one too! I love these workouts because I can do them at my house when my girls are sleeping. I don't need to get ready and go to the gym or find anyone to watch them while I workout. It's awesome! They also help me do things I love better like running.
So Weigh In Day was yesterday. These are my results:
From the day I delivered my baby at the beginning of Aug. until now:
Down 56.5 pounds!
From the day I started doing Beachbody's workouts on Sept. 26, 2011:
Down 38.5 pounds!
Lost 9.5 in. off my waist!
Lost 6 in. off my hips
Lost 1.2 in. off each arm
Lost 4 in. off each thigh
Lost 8.1% body fat!
My "before" picture taken October 15, 2011. This isn't even at my worst. I didn't want to take pictures before this!

It's Weigh in Day! Let's Focus on Nutrition!
It's Weigh In Day! How did you do?
This was a tough week! There were SO MANY treats around!! I don't know about you, but we weren't able to resist!
I ate WAY too many sweets! Ahh! Gummy sharks, gummy bears, gummy peaches, key lime pie, and peeps! Talk about sugar OVERLOAD!
I haven't had sugary sweets for weeks. A friend and I gave them up for about six weeks. I did pretty well, and I felt great! Easter was the day we planned to break the deal and eat sweets. I was excited to eat my favorite treats (gummy anything!). The only bad part was eating WAY too many!
After today I decided to go back off of sugary sweets as part of my regular routine. I might have one here and there, but I felt so much better when I didn't have them!
Good luck with Weigh In Day! Don't forget to email us your progress at GolladayFit@gmail.com!

WEEKEND CHALLENGE- Create a Time Map
We know this is a busy weekend with Easter, but there's still room for a little WEEKEND CHALLENGE!
Each weekend we give our team a challenge to help them make their lives a little better.
This weekend's challenge is to create a Weekly Time Map. A time map is a map of how you'd like your week to be. This will help people who say they don't have time to exercise or eat healthy to be able to fit it into their schedules. :)
This is what you do. Read all of the steps first before you start.
1- Take out a blank weekly calendar or a blank sheet of paper.
2- Think about all of the things you'd like to do in your week (spend time with your family or friends, go to work, exercise, eat five meals a day, etc.). Think about it for a few minutes.
3- Then, write a list of these things (your priorities)
4- Next schedule them on your calendar. Leave blank spots to have a little flexibility, but make SURE to get your priorities in there.
5- Next, think about your health & fitness goals (What do you want to accomplish? Do you want to be more fit? Would you like to lose weight?)
6- After you've thought about these goals, write them down
7- Take a look at the schedule you created. Will it help you reach your health and fitness goals? Did you make time to exercise and eat five times a day?
8- Put this map somewhere you will see it everyday.
9- Revise this map each week. Make sure you are getting closer to your goals. If you aren't, make some changes in your schedule to make them happen.
10- Last, start or continue living a healthy and fit life!
Have a great Easter Weekend! Let us know how this goes!

A Day in the Life- Nutrition, Nutrition, Nutrition
Post by Shannon
They say it is 80% diet and 20% exercise.
I totally agree!
I didn't start seeing amazing results until I focused on my nutrition every day.
I used to think exercise was the most important. In college I ran 5 miles a day, did aerobics 5 times a week, took ice skating lessons, a mountain biking class and more!
Basically, I didn't want to gain the "Freshman 15!" So I did everything I could to stop those unwanted pounds from coming.
It worked, but I was always "on the go" trying to get all of my workouts in!
Little did I know that if I just focused on my eating and added 30-60 min. of exercise a day, I'd be fine!
I like this picture. It shows you how your plate should be balanced (1/2 fruits and veggies and the other 1/2 grains and protein).
It is important to get a balanced diet each day. You don't want to cut anything out of your diet.
The mistake most people make is they drop their calories, lose weight, and then go back to eating like they were before and gain the weight back. Sometimes they even gain more back!
The moral of the story is to make this a LIFESTYLE CHANGE. Make it a change you can do forever. It isn't a "diet".
So, that means you need to allow yourself a treat once in a while. A first I gave myself three treats a week. Yes, three REAL treats a week (cake, ice cream, cookies, etc.), and I still lost weight!
This also means that you shouldn't cut ANYTHING out of your diet unless you choose to for other reasons.
Most people cut out carbs. The truth is you NEED carbs to fuel your body for your workouts. Do you think you could run a 1/2 marathon if you cut out carbs? NO!! You need carbs to give you energy and make you full.
So our focus in April is on nutrition and eating 5 times a day. It seems like this is the area everyone struggles with the most. So we are going to help!
